The Museum

The museum of ornamental cast-iron in the palace focuses mainly on artifacts from the famous foundry of Sayn, as well as the social and industrial history of the region. The museum is run by the town of Bendorf. Among a large number of exquisite artifacts is the “Sayner Mücke”, a one-to-one model of a fly and the well-known Schinkel-chairs. Of great interest are also an accurate-to-scale model of the historic foundry hall in Sayn and a unique collection of iron ovens from other foundries of the region dating back to the 19th and early 20th century. Opened: March to December 1st daily from 10 am to 6 pm (4 pm in autumn).

Chamber of the Princesses

Adjacent to the Ornamental Iron Museum and included in the entrance fee, visitors find the “Chamber of the Princesses”. Here the visitor will learn about the history of 6 generations of the Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn family.
