Palace and park

When Prince Ludwig had the palace rebuilt in the mid-19th century, he also had an adjacent agricultural area measuring 22 acres sculptured into an English-style park, which joins the palace and the castle hill to form a romantic ensemble in the center of the village.

The park draws its special charm from a multitude of rare trees, the lake with its fountain, an artistic grotto, the ruin of a baroque pavillion, a Virgin Mary-chapel and the creeks Sayn and Brex, which surround the area.

Main attraction in this park today is the Sayn palace butterly garden, which was created in 1987 by Princess Gabriela. Apart from this, the visitor finds a children's playground adjacent to the butterfly house.
