MEDIEVAL CASTLE

High above Sayn, near Bendorf on the Rhine river, lies the 800-year-old castle (Burg) of the Princes of Sayn-Wittgenstein. From here you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view from the heights of the “Westerwald” across the Rhine valley to the volcanic mountains of the Eifel. The inner courtyard hosts the castle tavern.

The castle can be reached either by foot, about 10 minutes from the Butterfly Garden and Sayn Palace, or by car via the recently constructed road coming off the road to Bendorf-Stromberg (L 306).

Il castello ancestrale dei principi Sayn-Wittgenstein, risalente a 800 anni fa, si trova in alto sopra Sayn vicino a Bendorf sul Reno. Qui si può godere di una meravigliosa vista panoramica dalle alture del Westerwald sulla pianura del Reno fino alle montagne vulcaniche dell’Eifel. Il cortile interno con il ristorante invita a festeggiare, anche gli ospiti giornalieri la domenica durante la stagione.

La roccaforte si raggiunge sia a piedi (circa 10 minuti dal Giardino delle Farfalle), o in macchina, grazie alla nuova strada che si imbocca dalla “Strombergerweg” (L 306, direzione Bendorf-Sromberg). Per ragioni di sicurezza, e per evitare il rischio di cadute di pietre sulle abitazioni sottostanti, bambini ed adoloescenti non sono autorizzati ad entrare nell´aerea del castello feudale, se non accompagnati dai loro genitori, o persone con la medesima responsabilitá ed autoritá.
